A note from the founding member

For anyone looking to become True Toys Member we ask the following: that you are a kindergarten teacher by occupation or degree, that you believe toys matter and you are critical of toys you keep in your classroom.

The idea behind gathering kindergarten teachers with interest in authentic kindergarten toy making is to identify these individuals and tailor a community that can assist them and enhance their individual work with kindergarten age children.

If you see yourself as one of the teachers who continuously have an urge to fix, amend or improve

play resources from your classroom, you should think about joining True Toys community.

If you are trying to solve a problem in your classroom or portrait a concept with nothing less then a toy, you should definitely join True Toys community.

The toys we wish to generate under the name True Toys are true, simple and meaningful. Even obvious.

Requesting your membership with us suggests that you would like to either make toys or write about toys. You are welcome to do both.

We find that the physical environment is of great importance in early childhood education. For this reason we want to make sure that there are toys available out there originating from the hands of kindergarten professionals. This is what True Toys represents and is why we welcome practitioners only as our members. Early childhood educators, early years professionals, kindergarten, preschool and pre-primary teachers, are all welcome to join us in developing and making toys.

Apart from toy making, we also find it important to talk about toys placed in the kindergarten environment. In the hope that we can interest our colleagues in professional knowledge sharing through writing about toys and the physical environment of kindergarten space in their own experience we offer them our blog pages. Any member of ours can become (toy) author and write own posts in a preferred language bringing positive change and much needed attention to kindergarten toys and tools one text or one toy at a time.
